Sleever

The “e-design” trend has now reached the world of perfumery with Issey Miyake’s fluid shaped, fluo colored, ultra transparent, rigid blister-shell packaging for “Eau Solaire” and “Lunaire,” Issey’s new alcohol-free fragrances for the summer of 2001. Elegance has always been the mark of Issey Miyake. This, once again, goes for the chosen packaging solutions. This time with the combination of a curved clear plastic shell with Sleever borne decoration for the well-known “Eau d’Issey” conical atomizer. A creative, aesthetic and technical option for both protection and decoration: gravure printing in a gradation of blue “Eau Lunaire” and red for “Eau Solaire,” plus easy-opening, tamper-proofing and optimal physical protection of the bottle.

DieterBakicEnterprises

Now H2O is tamed, available as a surface finish for cosmetic packaging. DieterBakicEnterprises offers a special effect finishing for its Naomi lipstick and other items from its range of cosmetic stock packaging. The water fresh look is a perfect reminiscent of nature with uneven drops of transparent lacquer. But unlike water, the drops are absolutely resistant. The water surface is perfect for cosmetic products to cool and hydrate the skin or very fashionable sheer lipsticks. Soon to come are Naomi mascara and lipstick that can be decorated in a similar way. Far from overused clichés, DieterBakicDesign has created the design for the new Yves Rocher color line, YRIA. They are responsible for primary and secondary packaging as well as graphics and typeface.

Risdon-AMS

Risdon-AMS has produced a sleek Slimline lipstick for Cover Girl by Procter & Gamble. The ‘Cover Girl Slimline’ has a cap and base made of polypropylene in a slightly textured matte blue finish. The hot stamped matte foil base features a dropout design to display the Cover Girl logo. The custom elevator and carrier mechanisms are made of acetyl material for better resistance between the components and the pomade, which makes for better performance. The cam is molded in an ABS material. The package features an airtight system that protects against pomade drying during the use of the product. It improves pomade retention, while reducing the risk for pomade shrinkage. The innovative seal system, with a specially formed cap and base, creates a vacuum inside the package. Water is one of the most abundant and essential substances on Earth. Our everyday life depends on the simple chemical combination of hydrogen and oxygen. But beyond this, water is a powerful force and a miracle.

Rexam

It catches the eye and sends you spinning into a world of changing reflects: Hypnotic, the new Rexam finish. Rexam has been preparing this spellbinding effect for many months, developing technology based on a coloured multi-layered coating. Application couldn’t be simpler, through lacquering or injection. When questioned, technicians divulge just the one detail, saying that everything lies with the choice of exclusive multi-reflective pigments. That’s all they will tell you. There’s no explaining magic. The Mystic finish, which takes a lot of mastering, is now almost commonplace at Rexam. It’s another “first” that has come from years of expertise in UV metallization, and involves an in-depth worked metal finish on standard resins. The technique lies with very careful preparation of varnishing further up-line, so that the finish finely hugs the structure of the object being decorated. At once mysterious and ostentatious, here is yet another piece of magic from Rexam. Galactic from Rexam is an astonishing dual-layer complex giving a unique effect: the frosted finish. The secret lies with the art of incorporating a structured complex onto a metallised piece.

CD Cartondruck

A new trend in packaging pursued by more and more customers is that of clear cartons. CD Cartondruck has taken up this trend and now offers transparent packaging with the renowned CD qualities: innovation, perfection and full service. The base material is hard PVC/PET or PP in the strengths of between 0.25 to 0.5 mm. Clear cartons can be printed either in offset or in silkscreen. In offset printing the cartons are printed by the UV-process both outside and on the reverse of the foil. By combining both the inside and outside printing of the foil, numerous special effects can be offered to clients and designers have access to a wide range of new creative dimensions. The surface finish can be UV matt or a glossy varnish.
