Subject: The author, Danute Pajaujis Anonis, a senior perfumer/chemist with many years of experience in creative perfumery, includes comments and observations on modern variations using new materials that have become an alternative for or have replaced older formulas. Examples of topics covered include black currant, honeysuckle, lilac, rose and violet. New and experienced perfumers in the industry will find this a useful publication. The book begins with the historical background of the origins and uses of essential oils. There are separate chapters for each of 41 flowers, describing their natural oils and their synthetic compounds. There is also a chapter entitled Miscellaneous Flower Oils where the author discusses the characteristics of the oils. The final chapter is titled Miscellaneous Floral Compounds. During the early part of the century, when single floral fragrances were favored, various types of floral compounds were developed. Many of them are obsolete today. These are discussed in the last chapter.
